# Block lists explained

> What each switch does, and what might break. Markdown copy of https://kuuko.app/learn/block-lists-explained/ for agents; the HTML page is the source. Facts checked 28 October 2026. Part of Kuuko's Learn articles, the same as in the app.

Kuuko has 16 block lists in four groups. Each one is a list of names that Kuuko answers with “doesn’t exist”. You find them under Blocking › Block lists.

## Always on

- **Ads and tracking:** ad networks and analytics that follow you across apps and websites, such as Google Analytics.
- **TikTok tracking:** the TikTok Pixel and TikTok’s known tracking addresses.
- **Scams, malware and phishing:** sites that steal passwords or install harmful software.

TikTok tracking has no switch because the main list already blocks it. On 28 October 2026, the main lists held 436 of the 437 names on HaGeZi’s TikTok list. The missing one is a marker name HaGeZi uses to check that its list is loaded.

## Big tech companies

- **Meta, on:** the Meta Pixel on websites and Meta’s code inside other apps. “Log in with Facebook” stops working on other websites and apps.
- **Google extras, off:** Google Tag Manager and ad-click tracking. It’s off because some websites break without them. Google Analytics is always blocked.
- **Microsoft and LinkedIn, on:** Windows and Office reporting home, and LinkedIn’s tracking script on websites.

## Devices and websites

- **Device makers, on:** data that Amazon, Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei devices send home. Each has its own switch.
- **Fake shops and subscription traps, on:** fake online shops and pages that trick you into paying every month.
- **Pop-up ads, on:** pages that open unwanted windows, often with fake warnings.

## Off, you can switch on

- **Stricter protection:** blocks more tracking, also Google Tag Manager. Some websites may break.
- **Social networks:** the websites of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn and Reddit. Some of their apps, such as Instagram, get around it on iPhone.
- **Gambling**, **Adult content** and **Piracy sites:** whole websites of that kind.
- **Link shorteners:** short links that hide where they lead.
- **Apps that bypass Kuuko:** stops apps from using their own encrypted DNS to get around Kuuko. It also switches off iCloud Private Relay.
