Many websites and apps carry Meta’s code. The Meta Pixel alone is on 8.5% of all websites (W3Techs, 28 October 2026). Through this code, businesses send Meta information about your interactions with them.
What it blocks
- The Meta Pixel on other websites.
- Meta’s code inside other apps, such as shopping apps and games.
- Facebook Like and Share buttons that websites load from
connect.facebook.net. Buttons a site embeds straight fromwww.facebook.comstill load.
What keeps working
- facebook.com and instagram.com in your browser, unless you switch Social networks on. whatsapp.com keeps working either way.
- The Instagram app: in our test it kept working even with Social networks on.
What stops working
- “Log in with Facebook” on other websites and in other apps.
What no blocker can stop
- What you do inside Meta’s own apps: Meta sees that directly.
- Shops that send Meta information about what you do with them from their own server. An alias helps a little. What Kuuko can’t block
Meta’s own setting
- Open Accounts Center. In the Instagram app, tap your profile picture, then ☰, then Accounts Center.
- Open Your information and permissions. Then choose Your activity off Meta technologies.
- Choose Disconnect future activity. It’s under Manage future activity. Meta then no longer connects what businesses send about you to your account. This also clears your earlier activity.
What disconnecting means. Businesses still send the information, and Meta still receives it. Meta’s sheet in the Instagram app (Romania, 28 October 2026) says it may be used for measurement and to improve its ad systems, but it will be disconnected from your account. The same sheet says it can take up to 48 hours, it applies to every account linked in Accounts Center, and it may log you out where you log in with Facebook.
- In the same place, Manage cookies has two switches you can turn off: Meta’s cookies on other apps and websites, and cookies from other companies.
- Under Ad preferences you choose between ads that are more or less personalised.
These are the names in the Instagram app in Romania on 28 October 2026. On Facebook and in other countries they may differ. On 9 June 2026 Meta announced that in the US and some other countries it will no longer offer Your activity off Meta technologies; a setting called Activity from other businesses then decides whether Meta uses that activity to personalise your ads and other content, such as your Feed.
What about Instagram and Facebook themselves? Social networks blocks the Facebook and Instagram websites. In our test on an iPhone, the Instagram app got around it by connecting to Meta’s servers directly. We haven’t tested the Facebook app. What Kuuko can’t block
