What an alias is

A new address for every shop and newsletter.

An alias is an email address you give out instead of your own. Mail to it is forwarded to your real mailbox.

  1. Make one for each company. In the Aliases tab, create an alias and give it to one shop, newsletter or service. Each alias ends in @kuuko.me.
  2. Mail arrives as usual. Kuuko forwards it straight away to your mailbox and doesn’t keep it. If your mailbox can’t be reached, a mail waits on Kuuko’s server for up to a day.
  3. Switch it off when you’re done. One switch stops that alias. Your other aliases keep working, and your real address never left your hands.

Why one for each company

  • You see who passed your address on: spam to the alias you gave one shop points to that shop. When an alias gets spam, or leaks
  • Two companies can’t match you by your email address, because each has a different one.
  • If a company loses its data, the alias leaks, not your real address.

What Kuuko keeps

  • For each alias: its address, your note, the mailbox it forwards to, the name on replies if you set one, whether it’s on, and running totals without dates.
  • Not the mail itself.

What it can’t do

  • Hide what you tell a company yourself, such as your name, phone number or delivery address.
  • Stop a company from recognising you by those details.
  • Protect mail you send from your real address.
